There are "wild" and "cultivated" blueberries. Wild are typically smaller in size and grow lower to the ground, where as cultivated are big and fat and can grow like raspberry bushes.

I have both growing on our property for our own consumption with the bears don't get them.

I don't know a bunch about wild blueberries, but as Jack said, they are more of a ground cover in manner of growth....I have no idea if they are all of one variety or not.

The high bush types are planted in rows that are generally ten foot apart with the bushes being 3 or 4 feet apart in those rows.....The fruit comes in more varieties, sizes, sweetness and hardiness factors than I can name.....In my area, the early ones ripen in June and some of the later ones in late September and October, with many types in between.. Most ripen in stages, so a particular type may take a month or more to completely harvest.....Some are more tart, others are sweet, some are somewhat bland, some are very small while others may tend to be bigger than a nickel.

Like most fruits, eating them straight off the plants whittles down the urge to buy them out of a supermarket....fresh picked is so much better.
