Robert Mueller has a grand jury underway against Roger Stone and Julian Assange

Former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg had such an epic pair of on-air meltdowns today on CNN and MSNBC, we’re still trying to parse everything that he blurted out. He admitted he thinks Donald Trump is probably guilty in the Trump-Russia scandal. Then Nunberg announced that he’s going to prison for refusing to honor a Trump-Russia grand jury subpoena. Then he gave away that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has a grand jury going against Roger Stone and Julian Assange.

Here’s what Nunberg said on MSNBC today: “I’m not going to cooperate when they want me to come into a grand jury for them to insinuate that Roger Stone was colluding with Julian Assange. Roger is my mentor. Roger is like family.” So now we know that Mueller has a grand jury underway against Stone and Assange. The two of them communicated during the election about the emails Russian hackers stole from the DNC and then leaked through WikiLeaks. It’s long been expected that Mueller would pursue Stone and Assange, but this makes it official. So what does that mean?

[ Neil Hannity also is in contact with Assange, who he knows is a stooge for Russian intelligence .. pre-Trump, Hannity excoriated Assange for that. Put Hannity before a grand jury. ]

Assuming Mueller is able to convince the grand jury to see things his way, which is nearly always how these things go, it means Roger Stone and Julian Assange will be indicted. That will lead to the arrest of Stone, and a tricky extradition situation regarding Assange. What’s key here is that Stone is arguably Donald Trump’s oldest friend, and yet Stone is a survivor who’s spent decades getting away with political dirty tricks. It seems likely that Stone will reluctantly sell out Trump if he has to, in order to stay out of prison.

For now, however, today’s reveal of the grand jury against Roger Stone and Julian Assange is a hint that Robert Mueller has no intention of stopping any time soon. He’s going after everyone who may have played any criminal role in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal – and each new move puts Mueller that much closer to Trump’s doorstep.

What Trump says is irrelevant. He can't do anything.
