CT,

As I read your post my spine started to stiffen a bit. Then slowly a tear came into my right eye which I succesfully choked back. I began to hum God Bless America, and stood up as I read <The U.S. economy will turn in a strong performance and lower interest rates will benefit the financial markets>. When I read the last sentence <<We are not changing our expectations and will ride out this tumultuous time that we believe will rebound faster than most anticipate.>> I spontaneously quit humming and started singing out loud "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy". Thanks for the nice little jolt of "feel good". I am sure the euphoria will wear off about the time the pain medication I am on does but it was a lot of fun while it lasted.
Best,
Stitch

<<Europe is in
the midst of a decent recovery that has been largely ignored due to
the events in Asia.>>

I have been unable to verify that there is any recovery in Europe in general or in any of the individual economies. This issue (European recovery) was disputed by Elaine Garzarelli today in an interview on CNBC.
This is not to say that all of Europe is hurting but that those that are have not demonstrated any turnaround. Have they?
