NEW YORK – August 18, 1997 – Celebrating its one-year anniversary, SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing (www.simweb.com), the world leader in interactive advertising sales representation, announced today that it surpassed $50 million dollars in total revenue in its first year of operation and expanded its executive team to fuel continued. In addition, the company announced that it extended to its roster of quality, branded sites with the addition of new ad representation contracts with InfoBeat and MapQuest.

Sales Growth

To date, SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing has provided services to over 600 advertisers, with more than 400 different ad campaigns running on client Web sites in the second quarter of 1997 alone. In addition, average ad buys on client sites have increased by 100 percent – ranging from small ad buys to a large integrated marketing programs that exceed $1.5 million. These results point to the strong relationships the company has formed with key advertisers.

Expanded Executive Team

In addition, the company announced that it added talent to its executive team and promoted several senior managers to fuel its sales infrastructure, marketing and advertising network product development efforts.

Key executives that will take on new responsibilities include Lawrence Howorth and Ted West. Howorth will take on the role of Executive Vice President of Sales, in addition to his current duties as Chief Financial Officer. West has been named Executive Vice President of Development and will focus on strategic business development and marketing efforts. Both West and Howorth will report directly to the CEO, Caroline Vanderlip.

Joining the company are two senior executives, Terri Morse, formerly General Manager of PRISM, the Philadelphia-based cable company, who joins SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales Development -- and Mary Winston, who joins from AT&T's Personal Online Services and was named Vice President, Ad Operations and Asia-Pacific Development. Morse will oversee all branding, advertising, sales collateral development, public relations and research efforts. Winston will lead a business infrastructure redesign effort in support of the company's superior customer service goals and manage all advertising operations, as well as oversee the Asia Pacific sales organization currently focusing on Australia and New Zealand.

Expanding Client Roster

The company also announced that it signed exclusive advertising sales representation contracts with two new clients -- MapQuest (www.mapquest.com), the leading provider of mapping technology and services for Internet users and publishers, and InfoBeat (www.infobeat.com), the world's largest email publisher – further expanding its roster of quality Foundation Buy<Picture: (SM)> sites which are dominant in their categories.

The contract with InfoBeat will focus providing all advertising sale representation for the more than 2 million customized email messages delivered daily to its 1.4 million subscribers. For MapQuest, SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing will provide representation for all of its one million daily impressions, and participate in developing a range of sponsorship and program strategies.
