Yes, I realize that, but the original post you responded to was to Koan.

I also realize that the SS "lockbox" is a myth, and that if you count the FICA taxes, the share of overall income taxes that the top 10% pays goes down drastically.

As for your assertion that taxes are not "wealth redistribution," that's not entirely true. More often than not, new government programs like ObamaCare are justified in benefits toward the poor and "middle class" and paid for by the "rich." Almost no politician demands a new tax that is applied equally (in terms of percentage of income) across all incomes. Every single new tax is targeted toward the "rich" first, because they're the ones that can most "afford" it.

That's how taxes become a vehicle for wealth redistribution. Even defenders of socialism point that out as they argue for more.
