As I said, the scientists are easily able to quantify those issues you have doubts about, so in their mind there is no doubt.

Well, like I said, I came to the same conclusion long ago that your son did. However, I do have doubts about certain things like how much of the variation is caused by the sun vs. human output of GHGs. That doesn't counter the AGW argument, but it is interesting to know nonetheless.

BTW, have you noticed watsonyouth and Thomas Watson's responses to my posts on my belief in AGW, based on the scientific consensus? His posts are positively hostile. When someone gets that emotional about something, I know that they are invested with religious zeal in an ideology, rather, than approaching things from a calm, rational and logical perspective. That's how I distinguish between the nut jobs and the people with something useful to say.
