Also look at values in this company, book value of $ 21 per share, cash of $ 5 per share, well diversified and still high tech!! Compare with other high tech.. no match...

sean, in all due respoect, i think you have missed the point...no one
knows at this point the full impact this asian situation will have for the next several quaters. in reading MOT's press release they are suggesting 10% growth for 1998 basing it on the assumption that the IMF loans will stabilize the region. they suggest that in 1997 they have streamlined the company, but go on to say how they will control costs and also have to deal with pricing pressures and much lower sales in this region. even you say that 25% of their business is in the asian region. how many new orders for any type of equipment do you really believe is coming out of asia right now for MOT or anyone. asia may have hit bottom, but now begins the long crawl back up. these economies are a mess and 1 or 2 quarters will not correct what has occurred. one company who reported last week said that they had cancelled order due to companies not being able to secure letters of credit from the banks....IMHO this will have big impact for several quarters and it would have been better to have suggested flat growth
for 1998 andf then anything above this would have been viewed as positive..now they have locked themselves into a 10% growth that they really dont't know they can achieve.
regards,
john
