A lot of people have become addicted to SI, myself included. I don't think cutting off the fingers would be the answer. A little too much eye for an eye. However, perhaps Mr. Hacker could be banned from all compute use and given 5 years of hard labor at SI to make up for the thousands of hours of peoples' time he has wasted.

Something nasty should be done to him.

'Should the US adopt the criminal system of Turkey and cut the fingers of of hackers?'

The criminal system of Turkey does not have such punishments, nor any similar punishments. I think you are confusing it with some Arabic countries, whose legal system is based on sharia law. Turkish legal system was modeled after Switzerland, back in 1920's and 30's.
