Such spontaneity might be cool with road trips, but when dealing with a tyrannical despot with [potential] nuclear abilities, maybe more planning is warranted. The New York Times is reporting today that President Trump was so anxious to talk to Kim Jong-Un that his agreement to meet with him was irrationally quick. And by “irrationally quick,” I mean he agreed, without conditions or considerations. [ Of course he did. ?He doesn't need advisors. He knows more than they do. Even more arrogant than Obama. “The day I realized it can be smart* to be shallow was, for me, a deep experience.” Think Like a Billionaire ]* The president didn’t take the time to discuss the offer with his advisors before accepting, stunning the American and South Korean officials gathered at the Oval Office, The New York Times reported. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and the president’s national security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster reportedly asked the president to consider at more length the risks and disadvantages of accepting. Let Trump be Trump, right? The Times interviewed officials from the U.S., China, Japan, and South Korea, and all of them were apparently in agreement about Trump’s hasty reaction. So Trump is ready to do what no other president before him would do – meet with the dictator of North Korea. The problem with agreeing to such a move is that it gives legitimacy to a rogue regime, and that’s the very reason past president’s have refused to allow North Korea to set itself up as equal to the U.S. Trump doesn’t think that far ahead. According to South Korean officials (none of this has come directly from Kim, yet), Kim is prepared to halt his nuclear ambitions, and at the very least won’t shoot off any missiles while talks are going on. President Trump was so thrilled that he suddenly wants to make “little rocket man” his new best pal. “I think North Korea is going to go very well,” he said. “I think we will have tremendous success … they promised they wouldn’t be shooting off missiles in the meantime, and they’re looking to de-nuke. They’re gonna be great.” At a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday night, the president attacked the U.S. media (“fake news”) and other politicians, but he hushed the crowd and defended Kim Jong-Un. It was a thing to behold, but it’s typical Trump. .....................
