One can be moral without invoking the concept of G-d. It's based on The Golden rule of treating others the way you want to be treated. Now there is a loophole in there. But outside of a person who likes to be tortured, I think it holds up fairly well. There is also Kant's categorical imperative. But I will let that one pass for now since most people are not familiar with it.
