Do you think we need god to tell us murder is wrong? We know it instinctively. The problem is we use god to justify murder so when we go to war we ask for god's blessing when we're about to slaughter people. If that's not insane, nothing is. I'd suggest the war in Iraq was based on lies and religious people were the strongest supporters of that war. Where was their god? When religious people learned there were no WMDs in Iraq they still supported the war (for many years). Where was their god? If they want to claim there's a god who gives them an understanding of right and wrong they abandoned it when Bush took us to war. As an atheist, I know Bush was lying about WMDs. I knew it was immoral to go to war and stay in a war that was based on lies. How many religious people were capable of doing this? Very, very few. While there were a few religious leaders who wrote letters opposing the war, few of them actually made a big deal out of it. After all, we were only in an unjust and illegal war (illegal and immoral since it was based on lies). It's my experience that many religious people will lie (and/or hate) people who disagree with them including Hillary Clinton, Democrats, gays and transgender, Muslim and immigrant, black and the poor. Where is their god and their moral code? Turn of talk radio for 10-minutes and tell me you don't hear hate. It's hate the defines the entire gop.
