In 1974 a Bowmar or Texas Instrument battery powered calculators where the thing every science major had to have. Putting your calculator within 3 feet of a radio you could hear the CPU and the processing result every time you pushed a calculation button because the CPU had no metal shielding.

The easiest way to make a desktop non-compliant is by removing the Faraday Cage - ie running it with the metal case removed.
