Procom Partners with Computer Associates to Provide Leading-Edge
Tape Solutions

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Procom Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRCM - news) today announced a partnership
with Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA - news) to provide a complete line of enterprise tape backup
solutions. Procom will offer CA's industry-leading ARCserve 6.5 for Windows NT and ARCserve 6.1 for NetWare with its
full line of high-performance tape drives, DLT, AIT solutions and tape library products.

''CA's ARCserve software and Procom's tape backup products are perfect complements for storing and protecting data,''
said T.M. Ravi, CA Vice President of Marketing. ''This alliance is an illustration of our companies' respective commitments to
deliver industry-leading enterprise tape backup solutions to customers.''

ARCserve, together with Procom's tape backup solutions, provides comprehensive data protection and simplified
administration. Additionally, ARCserve options allow customers to customize their data protection strategy with a variety of
capabilities.

''The bundling of CA's ARCserve with our tape products gives customers the industry's most powerful solution for backing up
enterprise data,'' said Michael Khoyilar, Procom's Tape Product Manager. ''Procom's tape drives, DLT, AIT solutions,
library and high performance tape array products can now be sold as complete solutions.''

ARCserve for Windows NT and its storage options provide a scaleable solution to meet the most critical data storage
management needs. ARCserve for NetWare supports DOS, OS/2, Windows and Windows 95 Workstations and delivers
seamless management of mission-critical data to businesses large and small.

ARCserve features centralized management, allowing customers to manage host machines from the host themselves or from a
different Windows NTServer/Workstation. ARCserve's 32-bit, multi-threaded architecture takes full advantage of Windows
NT's multitasking and parallelism, as well as DLT technology's data transfer speed.

The Disaster Recovery Option extends the backup and restore capability of ARCserve for Windows NT to provide additional
protection from catastrophic loss of enterprise data. It is the first and only fast disk disaster recovery available. The Option
supports tapes created with MTF or ARCserve UTF format, includes easy-to-use recovery wizards, and eliminates the need
to reinstall the operating system and ARCserve.

ARCserve's Image Option enhances backup and restore speed for ARCserve host server data. It allows users to bypass the
file system and read data directly, providing high performance backup and restore operations.

The Backup Agent for Open Files enables ARCserve to back up all open files -- even those which have been locked or
opened in deny read or write mode. Applications and users can remain on-line and operations remain uninterrupted during
backup. The Backup Agent for Open Files eliminates skipped files during backup, guaranteeing full protection of data.

ARCserve's High Performance Client Push Agent allows remote server programs to stream pre-packaged data directly to the
ARCserve host tape buffer, optimizing network performance and increasing the speed of backups. An interleaving feature
allows backup of multiple servers simultaneously to a single tape drive.

The Client Agent for Windows NT allows customers to backup and restore Windows NT workstations to ARCserve on a
NetWare Server. It backs up and restores both registry and security objects, and supports all NT file types including FAT,
HPFS and NTFS.

ARCserve has received numerous awards from the industry's top publications in 1996 and 1997. ARCserve for Windows NT
and NetWare share the honor of Network Computing magazine's ''Editor's Choice,'' Network World's ''Blue Ribbon,''
Network Magazine's ''Product of the Year,'' and PC Magazine's ''Editors' Choice.''

ARCserve for Windows NT has additionally received BYTE magazine's ''Best of PC Expo,'' and ENT magazine's ''Readers
Choice Award.''

ARCserve for NetWare holds BYTE magazine's ''Editor's Choice,'' NetWare Solutions magazine's ''Editor's Choice'' and
''Reader's Choice Award,'' a Computer Reseller News ''Test Center Recommendation,'' and Network VAR magazine's
''Integrators' Choice Award.''
