As the author said, "Reagan himself wasn’t a boomer, but it was boomers who put him into office." "We used to have the finest infrastructure in the world." Then Raygun decided not spending money was more important than keeping our house repaired. "most of our problems have not been addressed because that would require higher taxes " Yup. As I was one of those 60's hippies, early on I know the subject well. Better than that author I might say. I couldn't read past this paragraph as it is so wrong I didn't want to waste my time. There are liberal baby boomers and conservative baby boomers. They are totally different groups. It was the right wing conservative baby boomers that kept cutting taxes for the rich and getting us into stupid wars. Even though LBJ got us into Viet Nam it was the liberal baby boomers who got rid of LBJ because of that and protested the war. The liberal baby boomers were among the most intelligent kids to ever exist until this new crop of kids has come along. But the liberal baby boomers got rid of primitive norms and mores and replaced them with personal freedom, especially for minorities (civil rights marches and 1964 civil rights act) women and gays. EVERY single liberal baby boomer voted for the 1964 civil rights act. PS that is a stupid picture that does not represent what was going on. << That’s the argument Bruce Gibney makes in his book A Generation of Sociopaths: How the Baby Boomers Betrayed America. The boomers, according to Gibney, have committed “generational plunder,” pillaging the nation’s economy, repeatedly cutting their own taxes, financing two wars with deficits, ignoring climate change, presiding over the death of America’s manufacturing core, and leaving future generations to clean up the mess they created.
