off-topic: email programs

I've tried quite a few programs and have settled on Eudora. I like it quite a bit. I'm on many mailing lists (mostly automotive types) and have hundreds of thousands of messages I keep. Eudora makes it very easy to put these into different folders and is very quick searching through them. Very manageable.

The only downside of the freeware/shareware version is it's missing some important filters for attached files. The Pro version has all of them, though.

You don't have to go to another site to get your mail. You would, though, have to configure your Netscape mailer to not get your mail, which is easily done.

A friend of mine swears by a free program called Pegasus. I use that company's network email/chat program (also free) and love it.

There are plenty of good ones out there. Which you use will be a matter of personal preference. You should download a few and check them out before deciding.
