Jelrod, why would foreigners sell dollars to buy dollars? Our bonds are where foreigners go to buy dollars. If they sell bonds they will put some or most of it into U.S. stocks.

Elaine Garzarelli? Find someone with some credibility and I might listen.

Look, the fact that MOT missed by 3 cents is meaningless. No one being honest with themselves could say what was going to happen this qaurter in a situation of complete turmoil. Everyone was afraid that they would miss by a mile. The fact they could come so close, with some pretty good growth in many of their businesses despite the mess over there, is impressive.

The fact that they said Asia will affect their first half is hardly news. Every tech company out there will say something similar this quarter. Sure they assume the IMF bailout will help -- that's the whole point -- Greenspan thinks so too. Fact is, no one knows how long or how bad this will be. Only time will tell.

The fact that we have the first evidence that things have not reached the complete collapse some are fearing will be met with relief. If INTC also does fine, that will add another piece of evidence. Over the next couple of weeks, a clear pattern will emerge. If MOT, which arguably had the best chances of a major tech company of missing big, is any indication, the pattern will not be as bad as people have feared.

Most people expect growth to slow over the next few months. That's not news. The fear is that it will snowball into something worse. To the extent that doesn't occur means things aren't as bad as people currently assume.
