The cost of the trade war.

It's not just foreign steel that will cost more, domestic producers will take advantage of the tariffs to raise their prices .. immediately.

This is trashing investment plans. Builders who have a contract will see contracts turn into money-losers as their costs rise. The economics of drilling wells, of constructing pipelines, of building plants, of building cars just changed.

That no one knows exactly when the tariffs will be imposed and what exemptions will exist, means no one can plan for them. This is another bad thing. Apparently some countries will have exemptions - some of those exemptions temporary. Exemptions will be traded over chocolate cake at Mar-A-Lago. This tariff regime and the crooked Trump and Kushner families are made for graft and self-dealing.

The tariffs would be a minimum $100,000 annual hit to our small family machine shop. We decided to retire this year but feel the pain of our friends and acquaintances that are steel users who will have to deal with this egregious plan put forth by trump

Got a quote for structural steel the day after the tariffs were announced, just a residential remodel. Price were more than 2x what we were expecting. Trying to understand what effect these have had. But it’s more than a can each of Bud & Campbell’s.

Our company installs rolling steel doors and (weirdly enough) trash chutes. We've received letters from suppliers and manufacturers that previously would lock in a quoted price for six months. Now, they can only do 30 days, with strict price increase caveats.

I see them almost every, single day. Most very large companies will not accept any price increases mid-contract, no matter how legit the reason. They will threaten to pull the work, short pay the quoted price and fight you in court... literally anything they can do.

Already got a letter from Ferguson Enterprises about buying steel. We have to buy 4 months early because of this tariff and we bid the project a year ago. This is a real world disaster. Small construction companies will go out of business @realDonaldTrump

@realDonaldTrump Mr. President, my steel piping prices are going up 25% for a job I bid a year ago. We willl now lose money on this project because of these tariffs. Why are you doing this to small business people who voted for you?

[ Trump's business career shows he has no concern for small businesses, he routinely balked at paying contractors and trades people. Using the legal system to delay and force small suppliers to accept a percentage of what they were due. ]
