We have a Dairy Queen one town over. They do amazing business. For a while, we had Cold Stone Creamery, Ben and Jerry's, and just about every other upscale ice cream place. They disappeared pretty quickly as the frozen yogurt trend caught fire. We then had something like a half dozen of them, mostly all where you paid by the weight of your cup and the toppings you added, which got to be pretty expensive pretty quickly. We are down to one I think now. We have two new ice cream places, both locally owned, that have managed to survive. No tougher business than the restaurant business, and that includes desert places, at least around here.
