where are those ground readings taken ? here in DC at reagan a large area of black runways, reagan temps are always 5-10 degrees higher than what I record at my house, so Of course the temps will be higher than in the 1880, 1920s etc

well nasa uses hcn's and currently 50 percent of the data is estimated. and in all those hotter temp the number of days over 95 is decreasing.
