Teeth get damaged over the years without decay. They always talk about chewing ice, but I suspect it's morthan that. All dentists learn how to make porcelain over gold crown and other applications so it has a soft spot in their hearts. The milled items have become better than hand-made as they have learned how to better make monolithic blanks which fire to a crystalline structure which are thick rods rather than the common needle like strucure like Kyanite which is more typical of porcelains. The zirconia is stronger but currently had limited tinting options. In ceramics we use zirconia silicate to produce a blinding white, trademarked Zircopax.
