“What do you think caused it?“

Dark Ages

“The period in western Europe between the fall of the Roman Empire and the high Middle Ages, c.ad 500–1100, during which Germanic tribes swept through Europe and North Africa, often attacking and destroying towns and settlements.”

Koan,
What do you think caused it?
Collapse of the Roman Empire with no other governing authority to replace it for centuries.

Now I'll wait while you claim that Christianity caused the Roman Empire to collapse.

Not the barbarian raids, not the collapse of the slave economy, not overexpansion, not corruption, not the Eastern empires, just Constantine and his conversion to Christianity.
