Respond to of 1575772 Koan, So during that time when the church had almost total power was the WORST time to live in the last 2,000 years. So the church had total power during the Dark Ages, but not during the Renaissance? And the Reformation was all about atheists trying to wrest power away from the Catholic church? Wow. Simply wow. No wonder the millennials today know so little despite being oh-so-educated.It was education and freedom from the church that ushered in modern civilization free from slavery, institutional segregation and general civil rights and democracy. It was Christians who freed the slaves in America. Lincoln himself was a devout Christian. It was Christians who resolved the theological crisis of slavery in the Bible, something that atheist revisionists like yourself conveniently ignore. It was Christians who pushed for civil rights. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Christian. He argued for civil rights and creative non-violence on the basis of Christian scripture. This contrasted with the other revolutionaries of the time, including Malcolm X and Vladimir Lenin, who argued for an "ends justify the means" mentality that would NEVER have been acceptable to practicing Christians. It was Christians who founded this country and came up with the idea of separation of church and state, because it was Christians who fled religious persecution from the Old World. It was Christians who founded the public school system, long before government took it over and kicked the Bible out of the classrooms. Christianity has formed the moral foundation of this country over the course of the past few centuries. Even the scientific enlightenment that flourished in this nation was enabled in part by the classical liberalism that Christians espoused at the time. Sure, Christianity had its fair share of authoritarians who tried to force their beliefs upon others, but to portray Christianity as overly authoritarian and regressive is to be intellectually dishonest. That's why you have to literally CHANGE history in order to argue your bull. Tenchusatsu
