Anyone that has Windows knows the endless problems. All that needs be done is to develop a better product. It isn't that difficult. And there are ways to approach this so that risks are low.

The endless problems have come from having 90% share. The product continues to grow in complexity because the designers are trying to accommodate this huge market. Eventually, the complexity starts degrading performance because unexpected interaction of assumed disjoint functionality. On a small scale this is called side effects. Windows is so complex and convoluted that it's killing itself. NSCP could take advantage of this intractable circumstance.
