I've noticed the same thing about spelling. I allow a lot of room for error in chat because people don't take the time to look it up.

And we all make misteaks from time to time <g>

I was not challenging the spelling. Maybe I should have said, "Is it 'inflection', or 'inflexion', I wonder", or something like that!

And yes, spelling is no big deal. And as long as a post is not riddled with mis-spelt words, I think it is OK.
