IOM's action this morning is more annoying
than SI's shut down. With the market rallying,
IOM again chose to stay put. One week to go
to earnings, this is not good for investor
confidence. Andy Y. has a point, IOM may
go down from here.

I'm pretty sure that Avatar received similar recognition about 6 months ago. Zip sales have continued unabated, and I'm unaware of much Shark presence in any retail store I visit.

>>Anybody know how many of these things [Shark drive] they're selling. I've examined a display model and they look pretty cool. I've got to admit, if it weren't for the compatability issue (I've already got a Zip in my desktop), I'd want one of these for my laptop. . . As the article points out, the technology and the convenience of use I think make it superior to the laptop Zip.<<

Brent -

A laptop Zip, being built-in, would be more convenient than a Shark.

Yes, they really are cool looking. I would consider buying one, too, but for the same compatibility issue.

As for how many they're selling, well, it can't be too many. I've never seen more than one or two at any store. Never spotted one in actual use, either.

I should say, however, that I don't have any hard numbers for sales. But I do know that Shark drives share 10% of the removables market with SyQuest and everybody else.

Interesting how Avatar says in the press release that all the awards they've received verify how critical these things are to their customers. The awards have to verify it because the sales don't.
