Under 85 IQ people with high levels of conscientiousness can become decent security guards and janitors for example. The problem is that low intelligence people end up leading very difficult lives through poor decisions. This sooner or later translates into performance issues at work.

I imagine even in the infantry the <83 IQ person could perform a limited role, but probably not at the risk of impacting negatively the rest of his group. When the going gets tough the military will find a place for the dumbest, even if they don't last long.

He has a Youtube video where he describes one patient with that low of an IQ that he simply could not help to get a job or keep a job. The guy was functionally illiterate.
