Really? Could it have been that Bush Sr famously signed a bill to raise taxes, even after infamously saying, "Read my lips. No new taxes." That's why Bush Sr. didn't get re-elected. Clinton then swept in with his famous saying, "It's the economy stupid." Well, those raised taxes then made Clinton look like a great economic manager, because those raised taxes from Bush Sr brought in a bunch of revenue. You have your history mixed up.
