Not much gold demand is coming from Canada, or even the US, for that matter.

That is part of the issue.. traditional culture in the east is changing as wealth improves.. They are becoming less gold focused as life becomes more predictable... Sure the old fogies in charge right now see it differently..

My second utterance of this today.. It is a process not a switch..

When I was a kid in late teens one of my uncles at the family biz described an event as two geezers (erstwhile brawlers) slugging it out .. They go like crazy for about a minute .. just like their prime.. Then they collapse exhausted.. Sneeze and you miss the action..

Gold reminds me of that now..

Earnings season is coming in a couple of weeks and it should be interesting. Bank profits should be massive. The only question is whether investors/traders will push bank stocks higher? Honestly, I don't know. If earnings are perceived as the best it gets, then the answer is probably not. Or, maybe no one cares again and investors/traders just buy, buy, buy. Thing is it feels like a bear market to me. But tomorrows sentiment data should be extremely bearish from AAII.

As for gold and the Miners, I'm not really surprised by the price action over the last 2 days. An end of quarter close above $1330 would have been very bullish. Now we are back to the same old numbing bearish crap. It's not as if I didn't consider this possibility before the big break out. I certainly did. That's why I kept my position size small. But I'm still very disappointed.

And the manipulation you speak of doesn't matter. All that primarily matters is price, charts and technicals.
