Brad, Lots of people are looking for a solution to the problem of reading through hundreds of posts to find the few that you are really interested in reading.

The DOWNLOAD approach is one approach but it doesn't cut down the number of posts, just makes it quicker and easier to read through it off line.

I usually scan the posts on the main thread page to find the ones I want to read. If the poster doesn't make the point/argument in the first line I probably will not read it. What algorithim do you use for listing the posts ? Is it the first 80 characters of a post, or the lesser of 80 characters or the first Carriage Return ? Whatever the case it would help my scanning considerably if you increased the cutoff to something like 180 characters and disregard Carriage Returns. Then I could really get a good idea of the content of a post, and avoid entirely the "one line wonders" or silly posts.

Another approach I use is the PEOPLEMARKS. Once I identify people I really respect I PeopleMark them and read all their posts. This also saves a lot of time.

Great work defending the site ! You are a whole lot smarter than those hackers !

Thanks,

Don
