This election means ALL hands on deck. And we have to find candidates who can WIN, not just pontificate utopian Marxism and blowing-up Wall Street, or injustices toward Fidel. The middle class is generally... "middle." The attacks from the left are sometimes more deadly than from the sheep on the right, Don't know about Berkeley right now but that's certainly not the case in the parts of New Jersey I know anything about. The focus is on finding candidates who will campaign on fixing things. However, I have little doubt there will be moments, not as you describe, but left loyalty versus "middle". Sometimes those campaigns run against script and we all learn that districts are willing to go much further than anticipated. However, my own guess is that the critical item will be just how attractive and articulate the candidate is.
