I actually think FDR was a pretty good president. He made some mistakes on the Depression, but he also got some things right. While he prolonged the Depression, he put people to work and that had to happen. He did what absolutely had to be done. It didn’t help the economy, but it gave people an option other than starving in the streets.

In the end it was likely a sensible trade off. But I think many took the wrong message from it and support for Keynesianism today is still based on a misunderstanding of what happened.

There is no doubt he was the right person for the job at that time given the War.
