RE: quiet period
Many companies have a "quiet" period between about 3-4 weeks before their report date (or sometimes 2-4 weeks before the end of the quarter) until the report date, during which they cannot/will not comment on the quarter. This is primarily to protect them from being pestered by analysts and investors alike about "how the quarter went" and to try to forestall any possible lawsuits. It is one result of all of the wonderful[sic] class action suits that have been filed over the past decade.

I believe Sam is right. Its self imposed to prevent lawsuits. Many companies do it on advice of counsel. I don't think it indicates any negative news.

By the way, I just received my monthly "Computer Series" ad that is mailed to my home. On Page 7 there's an ad with picture for "SanDisk" CF. First time I've seen it in a full color ad. By the way, anyone think that maybe the demand for CF will be larger than expected in 1st/2nd Q.

Here's my reasoning. Sales of Digital Cameras were apparently high this Christmas. Most come with some built in memory or a 2 MG flashcard. Many people may find they need more than 2 MG or at least want a spare. I have found that when I receive an electronic item as a gift for Christmas or Birthday, I usually go out and buy some accessory that I need shortly thereafter.
