He controls the media and that's how he was elected. When he said the US had zero GDP that one statement should have disqualified him from office by any informed person in the country but he learned they wanted to hear dumb things so he tries to top his latest dumb thing with something dumber and it works. This dumbing down of the gop isn't new. The gop didn't kick Bush out of office after they learned he lied about WMDs and they admire Reagan after he lied about balancing the budget. What we see in Trump is a culmination of decades of dumbing down an entire party.
