Don't know anyone in the business old enough to remember. Other than that, I would be afraid of a salesman's bias in a positive report from someone I don't know. Besides there should be a difference between "junk" stones and investment grade stuff just as one would expect between the resale value of 12-14K gold jewelry, and 24K coins.

Big money will never store value in 12-14K jewelry. Likewise, I don't think big money would store value in typical jewelry store diamonds. The proportional values should have a bigger stread in hard times.

Understand I'm not really interested in physical gold & diamonds, only the effect of physical demand on mining.
