Once I read those results later on today I will ask again for her opinion and if I'm not satisfied, I may be looking for a different doctor? I've had the same health provider for yrs, but I have been considering changing and going to a different provider that is closer to where I live. My hc provider is an ARNP, and she's never been very vocal about test results. She does take care of issues that arise. For instance, I have hypothyroid disease, and she's right on top of that, but she never really comments on my diet. She was mum when I told her I was going gluten free, and didn't say a word when I told her I was on the Atkins diet. I don't think she knows a whole lot about nutrition, but then again what health care provider besides a nutritionist does? So I've been doing my own research and flailing about for answers on line. I am still going to keep my consumption of carbs very low, but instead of eating as much meat as I have, I'm going to eat more vegetables instead. Experimenting with vegetable and reading and using veg cookbooks has been a life long hobby of mine, so I have quite a few recipes to fall back on. This is a sample menu for one day of meals in my house. 1 cup oatmeal with a small amount of low fat milk and 1/2 banana, or GZ's egg muffin and a slice of Atkins flax bread for breakfast. A slice of Atkins flax bread (which I have btw become addicted to gg) with roasted vegetables, and a 1/8 cup of nuts and 1/2 apple for lunch. A small amount of meat (instead of a lot of meat.....which is what I was doing up until yesterday) with lots and lots of vegetable dishes.......salads, veg casseroles and veg stir fry's for dinner. Every once in awhile I'll prepare a brown and wild rice casserole that is loaded with veggies and cheese which is very good and very acceptable in small doses. We usually eat 2 snacks a day. Apple, cheese, nuts, seeds, pear. We have completely given up potatoes, white rice, white flour and processed foods. P.S. I eat a lot of avocados, + I eat lettuce, celery with a small amount of peanut butter and other raw veggies. IMO my biggest challenge now is to get those numbers back down to acceptable levels.
