Too bad John Adams isn't here to have this debate with you. Here are some of his words.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other -John Adams

In addition to being extremely dubious and not a very useful attitute, it wasn''t what you initial said, or what you said later when you tried to restate your opinion.

As for replying to your new formulation, been there done that.

It is fair to make the claim that morality is an existential issue. Any act of goodness or badness is relative to some abstract ideal of the quality being indicated. Political ideology by definition involves the intention to increase the power of one set over another; as such, it is a mistake to associate moral goodness to such a group. Helping someone who is suffering hard times definitely indicates moral goodness. Political parties, as groups go, are machinations and may be tainted with ulterior motives when making such a claim. Individuals within the party may or may not have genuinely good intentions.

Oh, I agree.

Dickey-wavers like Anthony Weiner are, somehow better than Donald Trump. Bill Clinton was "more moral" than Trump. Trump trying to bring about serious change in North Korea is less moral than Bill Clinton setting them up to get nuclear weapons. Feinstein's husband getting a deal to make a billion dollar commission off of buying bidding on old post offices is moral, as is a Louisiana congressman keeping his under-the-table dollars in the freezer. HRC accepting money on behalf of her private foundation while in office is fine, but Trump owning businesses he created without a nickel of political largesse is immoral.

Republicans and Democrats alike are immoral, perhaps amoral, or they wouldn't be in office. And the argument over how immoral they are could go on forever.

Your opinion on this subject is no better than anyone else's on this thread and you should keep that in mind.
