<<<<didn't tax investment income, capital gains, etc.>>>> Because they are income of the rich? .........Not sure why you are wandering in this direction in that my suggestion was a revenue source so we could pay for health care for single mothers and children AND pay for maternity leave so children have a compassionate start to their life. ........A VAT is not a tax on income but is a tax on consumption. My position is this; people who only bitch are a particularly nagging part of the problem - not a part of the solution. Your constant fear mongering that these social programs can't go on because they are too expensive is almost childish in that people will get health care. If you managed to dump everyone on the streets without any health care assistance - they still get the help when they show up at the hospital. And people stuck on ideologies as a single issue bring no solutions to the table! Republicans had their chance; once under Bush and then Trump and they did zero! At least Obama tried!!!!!! I miss Obama. A good man.
