That is another silly right wing idea.

The more books you read the more you learn.

And even the premise is wrong. If you don't read many books you probably have little interest in learning.

How are you going to learn without reading the people who know things?

Many people have little interest in learning substantive stuff.

Most of the males I have known have the most interest in sports and little interest in trying to understand what Plato, or Will Durant was talking about.
