Yeah, I would say exactly like the the Great Depression. I suppose you think it all happened at once but the reality is the unemployment rate climbed for a period of at least four years, IIRC. Had they not fucked it up it would likely have recovered in that or less.

A better comparison would be the Long Depression. The Bush Near Depression shared a lot of similarities with much of Europe during the Long Depression.
