Asia aside, the next big influence on CYMI is likely be the Intel earnings announcement and conference call, particularly if they give some helpful information on capital spending and smaller line chip production. Though a big Intel shortfall might give most of the tech companies a nasty hit, on balance I'd say the likelihood of some positive light being cast CYMI's way is pretty good. That could give further lift to the stock from here.

We retracted very fast from the $16 range twice today, reflecting investors unwilling to pay a price higher than or near the 25-day moving average, or maneuvering by MM. This may also indicate shrewd bargain hunter buying or covering by the shorts who still feel he has plenty of time to "work it out."

Let's see what Intel is going to say about the world semis and semi equip tonight. It can be either extremely bleak or exciting tommorrow. (But, of course, a lot of the Intel optimism is already figured into this struggling market today.)

I happen to agree with Mr. Apple that the Motley Fool article is a fair assessment of what has happened to Cymer and what can bring it up. Although I don't like the part of "how could you see this happen," I do like the part about "What from here." The article clearly says Cymi is an undervalued stock that has limited down side (assuming they can at least make the earning).

The hope and the bet for this stock will be a 30~40% annual growth in Cymi DUV laser shipment, to be shown in Q497 results and the backlog. Besides, in contrast to the general public belief that semi equipment business will slow down drastically in 98, there may be an overwhelming 0.25/0.18 conversion in 1998 or early 1999 which can make Cymi exciting again. If so, current stocks holders or buyers will be greatly rewarded.

Good luck everybody.
