I'll say more than that, what we are seeing in the US and in Israel and throughout the West is a pitched battle between elites, who have a post-nationalist worldview where terms like “the international community” are meaningful, and people actually care about their national independence. The same battle is playing out in country after country. The same values are under attack and defending themselves everywhere. This has been the underlying theme of our times for nearly a generation.
