Bennett, good trick = print bits of paper, call them "dollars". Pay people to work for you with it. Borrow the bits of paper back from them and lend them to other people and charge them interest. Then print more to pay back the people you borrowed them from. Meanwhile, force people to give some of them back to you as "tax" when they do work. Also, charge "duty", "tariffs" and the like.

Talk about one born every minute.

In fairness, there is one valid function they perform = keeping a means of exchange operating, but they charge pretty steep fees for providing the service. And they demand a monopoly - nobody else is allowed to operate a money system. But the Web will weave its wicked way around them.

Meanwhile, as you say, printing, printing, here we come. Down with deflation, up with the stockmarket.

How about Geron and their telomerase trick, announced today, making human cells go on and on and on? I like the sound of that one. Now they just need to get antitelomerase to kill off cancer cells and they'll be in business. In a big way.
