>> Personal computers are available and popular there.<<

I presume the Vietnamese have the same problem with keyboard characters as the Japanese do. True?

Al, sad to hear these things on your country. But how old are the guys in power now? Isn't there not even one younger guy who could rise when the old guard dies away? In Russia, for example there are (Nemtsov). And isn't there this prominent and fine looking woman (about 50 years old) who is/was a dissident and who was in jail I think. I think she may have even won some foreign award or price for her humanitarian and political efforts? Or is this in one of the Koreas.

What would need to happen in order for you to become more optimistic for Vietnam's outlook? What developments would you like to see? Do people have affordable access to good education? (I rather guess they normally don't). Are there Vietnamese students on any U.S. university campuses? In Switzerland, there are very, very few of them only. Vietnamese over here mainly are working in services (hotels, maids) and not so high quality jobs (waiters, cooks).

No need to reply soon, only when you find some spare time - or are in better mood.

Thanks a lot, Thomas
