But he doesn't bother to fault the environment that the Bush admin created that those intelligence officers were working under? It was very evident that the Bush admin was searching for answers they wanted. Powel should look to that as the root of the problem.

The retired general also faulted U.S. intelligence officers for lacking the "courage" to alert him that he was receiving bad data on Iraqi weapons of mass destruction ahead of his U.N. appearance.

I believe that is a false Mea Culpa.

I always thought he knew and now he wants to make it look like a mistake and not intentional.

I mean what are the chances he would say :"I knew but did it anyway"?

I never liked him. He sold out his people, just like Condi Rice did.

So selling out came to him naturally..

<,

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell in a new book said he blames himself for not trusting his instinct and making what proved to be false assertions to the United Nations about Iraq's possession of weapons of mass destruction, Bloomberg reported earlier this month (see GSN, Feb. 17, 2011).

I think that's probably because Cheney let them know they'd be managing Ice Station Zebra if they did that.

At least the story doesn’t act like they lied.
