Vela Research To Supply Video Encoding For ChoiceSeat At Super Bowl XXXII

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 1998--

Leading Provider of Video Compression Products Chosen

to be Part of Innovative Video Network, ChoiceSeat

Vela Research Inc., a leading provider of video compression products, today announced it will supply video encoding
equipment for Williams' ChoiceSeat(TM) at Super Bowl XXXII at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif. Vela's MPEG-2
encoder, Argus, will provide encoding for the interactive, in-stadium entertainment network which is being introduced at the
Super Bowl.

Using Argus, seven hours of historical NFL footage will be available to ChoiceSeat viewers via touch-screen access at any
time during the game. Argus will operate in conjunction with a number of other products that form the ChoiceSeat solution.
Argus provides high quality video compression and was selected for this project due to its extensive compatibility with existing
video decoders.

"Vela's encoding technology is the perfect fit for ChoiceSeat because of its extremely high quality, which was an essential
factor for us when choosing an encoding product," said Barry Goldberg, executive director and general manager of
ChoiceSeat. "Vela worked closely with us to ensure this project would be successful. Its customer service is the same high
quality as its video compression products. Vela has played a critical role in creating this innovative video network for sports
fans. The company's encoder is helping revolutionize the football-viewing experience."

"Having our encoder chosen as part of the ChoiceSeat project reinforces Vela as a cutting-edge leader in the video
compression industry," said Scott Cooper, president of Vela Research. "Our involvement also displays Vela's commitment to
working with clients to provide a customized solution. We are proud to have Argus be part of the first interactive, in-stadium
network."

In addition to touch-screen viewing of exciting moments in NFL history, ChoiceSeat will enable fans to view live action from
ten on-field cameras and watch replays from three angles. ChoiceSeat participants will also have instant access to
comprehensive NFL statistics and information, and will be able to play games or order merchandise. The interactive network
will be installed in about 600 locations at Qualcomm for the Super Bowl, including individual seats, club lounges, media areas
and suites.
