It literally prevents research of the subject and developing understanding. When a gene is found that causes sickle cell we realize that may lead to a cure. No one would announce a gene that causes a suppression of a few IQ points in a race if they found it! Thomas Sowell has referred to it, not as being dead, but as being "put under new management for different groups". His characterization is correct IMO. Morgan Freeman famously told Piers Morgan if you want to get rid of racism, stop talking about it all the time. And pointed out the two of them were sitting on national TV, we had a black president, how do you say racism is keeping people down? >> Why do you think they vote over 90% Democratic in every election. Why do you think? Why do you think?? There are all kinds of explanations. Keeping in mind that most slaveowners were hard-core Democrats, it is difficult to understand. I think the key turning point was in 1948 when Truman put civil rights in the platform although there was a transition period that followed into the 60s: I can say with certainty it has little to do with racism today. I just think you are extremely ignorant of this topic and I'm still in search of one that I think you know anything about. I don't think you're stupid, just hard headed and unable to incorporate facts into your thinking.
