Other than being a darling of the libertarians, he doesn't seem to have much going for him. He seems to have been a gadfly on writing books that libertarians would relish, and seems to have been very light on publishing anything that would be called a seminal peer reviewed paper. Which might well explain why he likes to bash academics, which in turn would explain why he is a darling of libertarians. Yet his admirers are sure he is worthy of a Nobel? What did he have going for him?
