I don't know which model is better, but it's hard to deny that Facebook's is stickier. Users can always enter their CV on another job site, but interactive content (e.g. all the photos you posted since college together with all the interactions and linkages based on those photos) is virtually impossible to port elsewhere.
I would argue the opposite. ;)

It is very hard for some other site to pull in the professional network I have on LinkedIn, since IMO it is rather conservative and not very movable. (To somewhat counterargue myself, there are niche professional networks. For example, ResearchGate for (mostly CS?) researchers.)

OTOH, the Facebook content is rather ephemeral. Yes, there are people who don't think this way. But there's a lot of people who do. I have young relatives who are on their xth Facebook account even though you are supposed to have only one physical-identity-mapped. I don't post photos on Facebook and I don't really care that some of my photos are on Google, some on Flickr, some anciently were on ??? and are now gone (I have local files). You can crosslink them across sites anyway. I wouldn't care much if all my Facebook history would wipe. And I have the feeling that majority of people would feel the same way, although I cannot prove it. ;)

This is not to say that Facebook does not have a huge network effect, moat, etc. It is very difficult to displace because of the network effect. And yet at the same time (especially younger) people can move to Instagram (yes, I am aware who owns it), Snapchat, etc. All I am trying to say is that history of photos/posts/whatever might not be as important as you think they are. ;)
