Greenhouse effect is only one theory for the cause not solidly established (others suspect one or more astroid impacts) and if so it was at much higher levels of green house gases then we have now or will have 50 years from now (beyond that too much will change to make controlling greenhouse gases for that remote time a primary focus now).

And thats far from the only point in the past where CO2 levels were much higher. There is evidence that it was close to 2000ppm in the Jurassic and over 1500 in the Cretaceous (as average over the whole periods, there would be times with higher levels)
