Yes, he's mistaken. Cube has a single chip codec.

CUBE's old encoder is a a multi-chip set. It's current DVx encoder is a single chip.

Alex, you fill in the blanks:

Innovacom's old encoder is ____________.
Innovacom's new encoder is ____________.

Hint: The answer rhymes with "type."

Alex what are you talking about????
>>>>There are other encoder chips in the marketplace that are not a "single
chip" although it may function similarily. For instance, the C-Cube
encoder is advertised as a single chip but their encoder consists of
three chips. Innovacom's chip is "one" chip period. So in reality it
really will be the first single chip.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
C-CUBE'S BROADCAST /PC ENCODING SOLUTION IS A SINGLE CHIP , PERIOD. YES, MULTIPLE DEVICES CAN BE USED FOR ALL TOGETHER DIFFERENT -HIGH END APPLICATIONS, BUT FOR FULL BROADCAST QUALITY AND FUNCTIONALITY, IT'S ONE CHIP. (Such as the replacement of their 14 chip solution , or IBM's 3 chip solution that can be accomplished in 1 cube device, i.e. DVx))
Never has any information suggested the use of 3 chips of the cube device. PERIOD.
